FH.UNNES.AC.ID – Semarang, Klinik Hukum dan Advokasi HAM FakultasHukum UNNES bekerja sama dengan Clinic of Farm Worker Rights, Cornel Law School, New York-USA melaksanakan kegiatan Guest Lecture dengan bahasan diskusi mengenai “Krisis HAM Buruh Migrant Sektor Perikanan di Taiwan”, Senin (27/8) di Dekanat Fakultas Hukum Kampus UNNES Sekaran Gunungpati.

Guest Lecture dengan nara sumber Wallace Jhong Huang LLM dibuka oleh Wakil Dekan Bidang Akademik Fakultas Hukum (FH) Dr Martitah MHum dan dipandu Riska Alkadri SH LLM selaku moderator membahas mengenai hak asasi tenaga buruh migrant yang berada di Taiwan diikuti dengan antusias oleh 150 mahasiswa dan dosen fakultas hukum.

Wallace Jhong Huang menceritakan mengenai mirisnya nasib buruh migrant di Taiwan. Mulai dari ketiadaan perlindungan hukum, asuransi kerja, upah yang rendah, dan minimnya pengetahuan penegak hukum di Taiwan mengenai hak-hak kaum buruh yang seharusnya dilindungi.

Selain itu, Wallace juga menceritakan rawannya tenaga kerja imigrant ini menjadi objek dalam tindak pidana perdagangan orang (human trafficking).

“Bisa saja orang Taiwan memperkerjakan orang Indonesia tetapi orang Indonesia tersebut dibawa ke negara lain seperti Korea, Jepang, Cina. Tidak ada yang tahu. Siapa yang akan melindungi mereka?” katanya.

Sebelum mengakhiri kuliahnya, Wallace tak lupa memberikan motivasi kepada mahasiswa untuk terus mengikuti perkembangan isu-isu internasional, memperdalam ilmu hukum melalui penelitian-penelitian ilmiah, serta membagikan informasi yang ia berikan diperkuliahan kepada keluarga atau kerabat yang diketahui sedang atau akan bekerja di Taiwan serta masyarakat pada umumnya.

Selain kegiatan Guest Lecture, Klinik Hukum dan Advokasi bekerjasama dengan Klinik Ketenagakerjaan juga dijadwalkan untuk melakukan riset bersama Wallace Jhong Huang mengunjungi keluarga dari WNI yang bekerja di Taiwan yang berada di Tegal dan Pemalang.
